Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly and Graduation

21 July 2016

On Thursday 21st July 2016 we said goodbye to this year’s Year 6 class.

The assembly started with a presentation to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society of £45. This money was donated by Year 6 out of the profits from the business that they have been running since they finished their SATs.

'Best Bites' made a profit of £270 which was a fantastic achievement and it was typical of the thoughtfulness of St Mary’s pupils to want to share some of this with the charity. The Business Manager and Account Manager made the presentation to the SVP.

We were then treated to a trip down Memory Lane as Year 6 recalled their favourite memories during their time at St Mary’s.

Mrs Brereton then read a poem that she had written which told us about her favourite memories from the past year which included a memory about every child in the class. The tissues were in great demand at this point.

Following Year 6’s assembly, presentations were made to children who had achieved 100% attendance for the year 2015/16. Each child received a certificate and a Merry Hill voucher. There were also certificates and vouchers for children whose attendance this year had improved by 5% or more.

Finally, we had the Year 6 graduation ceremony. Each child was presented with a graduation scroll along with a gift from The Friends of St Mary’s.

We are sad to say goodbye to a wonderful Year 6, but we are sure that they will have every success in their new high school and hope that they will pop back to see us and let us know how they are getting on.
