First Football Match

On Monday 17th October St Mary’s football team played their first match of the school year. This new team travelled to Netherbrook to face formidable opposition. They had won their previous match 9-1 so our team knew that they had a difficult job to do.

Netherbrook started the first half strongly and by half time had scored 4 great goals. However St Mary’s had a number of chances and played well together as a team. During the second half our team stayed focused, but Netherbrook continued where they had left off in the first half. All of the hard work paid off when Filipe managed our first goal. They still kept pushing for more, while Harrison managed to defend the goal against some brilliant shots from Netherbrook. Two further goals from Liam made the final score 8-3 to Netherbrook.

It is impossible to choose a “Man of the Match” as the whole team worked together to play a match which showed the potential for future success. Well done to Harrison, Liam, Filipe, Archie, Ishmail, Harry, Naishe, Nat and Hamish.
